I was going through my day and I thought of you again and again - of what a kind person you were...of how you were your family's "beloved son."  I smiled remembering things your mom did with you, and stories she told about you.  I thought about what a young man 14 would be....I'm sorry that we will never get to see you be that boy turned to man.  I think about what your great grandfather said - that your 13 years was enough.  In the gifts you gave your family and friends it was full, and you gave all of you, but you left us all wanting more.  Happy Birthday where ever your soul rests - with God and in each heart you filled with your precious life.

As a parent, birthdays certainly take on a new meaning once you have children....for the kids, it is all about out-of-the-ordinary activities, cake, ice cream, and presents.  For Mom and Dad, it is a day of reflection, often wondering how the time has passed so quickly.  In your unfortunate case, it becomes all the more significant.

As a teacher who cherishes the relationships between my students, I have read, over the past months, the comments from Michael's classmates and have to smile.....those bonds can be so strong and your son was obviously a magnet for everything positive.  As a parent, I can only begin to imagine your pain and hope that your suffering eases over time as you remember the "gift" you gave everyone on Michael's day of birth.

Who would have known that your "gift" of Michael would be such a bright and shining star, touching not only those who knew him, but so many who did not.  In time, may his birthday be less and less painful and more and more a reminder of the pure goodness that there is in this world.

My thoughts are with you, Mom and Dad, and family and friends, on this bittersweet day. Close

On your birthday I will not take my children's earthly presence for granted.

What an honor I have had this past 6-8 months to rally to have the Park at Bilby and Stathros named after you.

Even thou the Elk Grove CSD Board Members decided not to name the actual Park after you, they did the next BEST THING!

Michael, you LOVE baseball!  They approved the Babe Ruth Baseball Diamond being built in that Park to be named the MICHAEL DAVID RAMIREZ BASEBALL FIELD.

Michael, NEVER EVER EVER in the history of Elk Grove have they ever named a ballfield after an individual.

On 2/7/06 the CSD BOARD MEMBERS approved the naming of the MICHAEL DAVID RAMIREZ BASEBALL FIELD, after Michael  (YOU)

During my venture to have the Park named after you I have learned SO MUCH more about you.  Michael I knew you were an awesome kid, I knew you were A1.  But I did not know how many people you touched, how many kids you touched, how many kids YOU HELPED!

Michael, everyone that I have come in contact with that knew you or kids knew you calls you "an angel".  I believe that from the bottom of my heart!

Michael, You made HISTORY!

We all knew you would FOREVER be in our minds and hearts.  But now, future generations will have you in them as well, because of the MICHAEL DAVID RAMIREZ BASEBALL FIELD.

I cannot wait for opening day at the MICHAEL DAVID RAMIREZ BASEBALL FIELD.

Now, we have a place to go to remember you in a HAPPY WAY!  Your spirit will ALWAYS live on the corner of Bilby and Stathros.  Everytime a child throws the first pitch, I KNOW YOU WILL BE THERE SMILING ON!  Whispering in their ear how to make the next play!

Michael...i only knew you fro one year, but eveyday in that one year you made me laugh.  You were always cheering me up and everybody else in class.  There isnt one day that goes by that i dont think about you or miss you, you are always in my heart and you will always be in my heart.  Everyday i am thinking of you and i wish you were still hear.

I think when you died, i was just blindsided by the fact that i was never going to see you again and that i would never see your smile or hear your laugh anymore.  I was devistated on that day when i heard what happened.  At first it all seemed just so fake, but later on in the day it just hit me, that you were gone, but than i also realized that i would never forget you and that you were in a much better place.  I know that one day i will see you again, in heaven, and we will laugh and talk, and you will make me smile everyday, even wen i wont want to, just like old times.  I guess what im trying to say is that i will always love you and miss youand you will never leave my soul.  I love you and miss you Michael! Michael, every evening when I get on my computer at home, I take a minute to visit this website. I enjoy viewing the pictures of you, your friends and family.  Your smile brought warmth and love to everyone that was lucky to see it.  Michael, getting to know you the way I did was one of the best things that ever happened to me, Mary and the family. You are an awesome kid that was all a parent would want of their own child. All of your dad's softball buddies loved it when you attended our games. We'll always sport the black sweat band and your initials will always read on our left sleeve (closest to the heart). We even adopted the Michigan colors in your honor. That is how much you mean to us all. I'll always pray for you, your parents, family and friends...especially during this holiday season. We all miss you dearly and the only thing we have to look forward to is one day reuniting with you, our family members and the good Lord.    Close
